7 Incredible Benefits Of Handwriting

The reality is that technology makes our work easier. After all, can you imagine still hanging around with all those paper files and folders at the office and updating them by hand? Computers, laptops, tablets, and even smartphones help us with our daily tasks both at work as well as with our personal lives.

One of the main impacts this had on us was related to handwriting. All of a sudden, it seems that we don’t need a paper and a pen anymore. After all, we can simply grab our smartphone or tablet and take all the notes we need. From setting up alerts to annotating what we need to buy at the grocery, a simple piece of paper and a pen seem to be things from the past. However, and besides the fact that technologies make our life easier, the reality is that we are losing a lot when we don’t handwrite.

benefits-of-handwriting

According to many different studies, our brains actually benefit when we write our notes, journal entries, essays, or even letters, instead of typing them. One of the things that is constantly reminded in all of these studies is that handwriting allows you to connect with words and, at the same time, your brain will be able to focus on them, learn from them, and understand them better.

Here are the top 7 incredible benefits of handwriting:

#1: It Fully Engages Your Brain:

The truth is that no matter if you are handwriting or typing, you need to pay attention to what you are doing. Nevertheless, when you are handwriting, some parts of your brain are activated. And this doesn’t occur when you are simply typing.

#2: It Has A Calming Effect:

In case you are a nervous person or you are simply stressed out after a day at work, just grab a piece of paper and a pen and start writing what is going down on your soul.

One of the major benefits of handwriting is that this simple activity has a great calming effect. In fact, many people include handwriting in their night routine since it allows them to be away from the computer or television, and allows them to be completely focused on what they are writing.

#3: It Increases Your Learning Comprehension:

Another major benefit of handwriting is that it improves and increases your learning comprehension. This may be particularly important to students. After all, when students are at a class and they need to take notes, it’s far better to handwrite these notes than to type them.

Even though students may be faster typing than handwriting, they will be able to absorb more when they handwrite.

#4: It Unleashes Your Creativity:

creativity

One of the parts of your brain that are stimulated when you are handwriting but not when you are typing is the creativity area. So, if you are feeling that you are losing some of your creativity or you want to improve this skill, try handwriting. You will be surprised.

#5: It Slows Down Mental Age:

We all know that we are getting older every day. Even though this may not affect your daily tasks or activities, the reality is that aging usually affects your memory and ability remember things. So, if you want to continue with a sharp mind and without any memory problems, one of the best exercises that you can do is handwriting.

In addition, this isn’t only true for older people. The truth is that handwriting is also very helpful form young children and their development.

#6: It Enhances Focus:

One of the main benefits of handwriting is that it enhances your ability to focus. The truth is that no matter if you are at work, at home, or commuting, there is always something trying to grab your attention. Either it is a Facebook or Twitter notification or message, an email, a phone call, or an alert, there is always something to distract you. So, whenever you want to be completely focused, try handwriting.

#7: It Fights Dyslexia:

Introducing The Red Jinhao 599 Limited Edition

Red-Jinhao-599-Limited-Edition-featured-image

If you’re looking for a great daily writer with some personality and exclusivity, this Red Jinhao 599 Limited Edition may fit the bill.

Red-Jinhao-599-Limited-Edition

With a 2mm stub nib, this Red Jinhao 599 Limited Edition offers you an amazing line variation.

Red-Jinhao-599-Limited-Edition-2mm-Stub-Writing-Sample

Jinhao 599 Vs Lamy Safari

When you look to a Jinhao 599, it’s impossible not to think about the Lamy Safari. The Safari was the original pen with this design, so many people think the 599 is just a clone.

In reality, there’s no way to deny the inspiration behind the Jinhao 599. But the pen itself has its own arguments.

I do love both the Lamy Safari and the Jinhao 599. These pens are practical and make good daily writers. Between the two, I prefer the plastic feel I get on the Safari. The plastic feels thicker than the one you get on a Jinhao 599.

But the Jinhao uses a standard international size converter and a regular nib, so it’s more practical and flexible than the Safari.

The Jinhao 599 Fountain Pen

When you get a 599 you can easily use your favorite fountain pen bottled inks. There’s a converter included. If you want to, you can also use the international-sized cartridges manufactured by most brands (not by Lamy of course).

The 599 is entirely made of plastic. It’s not as thick as the Lamy, so it’s more prone to cracks. But don’t get me wrong. The Jinhao 599 feels good enough, just not as good as the Safari.

The pen weights around 20 grams and the length is 137mm.

The Jinhao 599 Limited Edition

For the limited edition, we replaced the nib with our own handmade 2mm stub nib. This nib is such a joy to use! It’s smooth and offers you more than enough line variation for daily use or for calligraphy.

The pen was cleaned, tuned, and improved to assure a perfect writing experience with this wet stub nib.

This pen includes 2 X 3ml ink bottles and a 5ml Fountain Pen Cleaning Solution. So, you’ll get everything you need to start using this pen right away and to preserve it for years.

Limited, Exclusive and Collectible

InexPens Limited Edition Fountain Pens are designed for those who look for uniqueness and exclusivity. We manually grind, smooth and polish the nib, to create a unique writing experience. The result is a unique and highly collectible fountain pen.

The Red Jinhao 599 Limited Edition offers you the opportunity to have a 599 like no other. This is a common and affordable pen, but there’s not another 599 exactly like this one. If you simply want a daily writer and don’t care about stubs, then you might prefer to get a regular 599. But if you want something manually tuned, perfected and unique, get your limited 599 by clicking here.

Now Available: Jinhao 500 Marble Green Limited Edition

The Jinhao 500 Marble Green Limited Edition offers you a perfect balance between quality and affordability. This pen is equipped with an amazing handmade 1.9mm stub nib, and it’s ready to join your fountain pen collection.

Jinhao-500-Marble-Green-Limited-Edition

Here’s the line variation you’ll get with this custom 1.9mm stub nib:

Jinhao-500-Marble-Green-Limited-Edition-1.9-Stub-Writing-Sample

Jinhao is one of those manufacturers that came a long way over the last few years. Even the standard Jinhao 500 proves it. For us, this pen was a perfect starting point to create the latest Inexpens limited edition fountain pen.

Jinhao 500 fountain pen

As most Jinhaos this pen comes with an international fountain pen ink converter. That allows you to easily use any bottled ink. If you prefer, you can also use standard ink cartridges.

This pen is made of metal and once you start using it you instantly feel you’re holding a premium pen. The cap is a simple Pull-Type cap that seals really well. The only negative thing about it is that it requires an extra strength to put and remove the cap of the pen. As long as it seals well, it’s doing its job. But I would prefer if the system was a little easy to use.

You can use this pen with the cap on top when you write if you want to. I prefer to use it uncapped since it’s big enough to use without the cap. This pen is 138mm in length, so with the cap, it becomes too big to write, at least for me.

Jinhao 500 limited edition

This Jinhao 500 Marble Green Limited Edition comes with our own 1.9mm handmade stub nib. The pen has the perfect ink flow and behaves extraordinarily well even on regular paper.

We made a big effort in providing a superb line variation and a smooth writing experience, and once we completed this project, it was clear we succeeded.

The pen was cleaned, tuned, and improved to assure a perfect writing experience with this wet stub nib.

This pen includes 2 X 3ml ink bottles and a 5ml Fountain Pen Cleaning Solution. So you’ll get everything you need to start using your new pen right away.

Limited, Exclusive and Collectible

InexPens Limited Edition Fountain Pens are designed for those who look for uniqueness and exclusivity. We manually grind, smooth and polish the nib, to create a unique writing experience. The result is a unique and highly collectible fountain pen.

Meet The Burgundy Hero 366 Limited Edition

Burgundy-Hero-366-Limited-Edition-featured-image

Introducing the Burgundy Hero 366 Limited Edition. If you love classical fountain pens, you need to check out the hero 366. Clearly inspired by the vintage Parker 51, the Hero 366 has a lot of things going for it.

Burgundy-Hero-366-Limited-Edition

This limited version of the pen comes with a fude nib. Fude nibs like this one offer great line variation, so they’re a perfect choice for calligraphy and drawing.

Burgundy-Hero-366-Limited-Edition-Fude-Nib-Writing-Sample

Hero 366 Specs

This is a light pen. While the full weight with the cap is near 19 grams, uncapped, the pen weights next no nothing.

This is a major advantage or disadvantage depending on your preferences. I personally prefer heavy and large pens, but I still find this hero 366 fun.

The cap is a simple pull-type cap and you can write with the pen capped at the bottom. It’s actually the best way to use it in my opinion since the pen length is just 120mm.

This pen comes with a pen sac, so no need to use converters or cartridges. You simply insert the nib into the ink bottle, give a couple of squeezes on the pen sac, and you fill it.

Again, it all depends on your preferences. It’s not the best filing system in the world for me, but it adds some personality and charisma to the pen. As a fountain pen user, I tend to stick to converters most of the time, but I find this filling system interesting for a change.

This is a plastic pen and might be the lightest pen I’ve used so far. That might give you the impression the pen is not durable or reliable enough, but the truth is I’ve been using some of these pens for years and never had a single reliability problem with them.

While some premium plastic or acrylic fountain pens get some cracks over the years, my heroes 366 remain as new. So, while the pen won’t give you a premium feel, it is reliable and practically indestructible.

Hero 366 Limited Edition Specs

On the limited edition we replaced the nib with a good calligraphy nib. This is a fude nib that will give you an extra character to your handwriting and that offers a generous line variation.

The feed and the sac filing mechanism had to be adjusted and tuned in some of these models, but when you get it you know it’s working perfectly well.

This pen comes with 2 3ml ink bottles and a 5ml fountain pen cleaning solution.

If you’re looking for a reliable and classical fountain pen, this Hero 366 can be a terrific choice. Some pens promise a lot and deliver just a little. This Hero is on the opposite side of that spectrum. It looks good if you like a classical design, but won’t feel like a premium pen.

But then, it keeps writing and performing for a long time. It’s not a sexy pen, it’s a workhorse. And we all need a couple of these on our collections.

The goal with the limited edition was exactly to bring some more fun and uniqueness to the equation, with the much superior nib. But at the same time, we wanted to make sure we wouldn’t affect the pen qualities.

All in all, the Burgundy Hero 366 Limited Edition is a pretty neat fountain pen. If you want to read more about it simply click the links and if you love what we’ve done with it, get your own Hero 366 today.
