Introducing Inexpens Fountain Pen Ink Samples

Fountain-Pen-Ink-Samples-featured-image

Fountain pen ink is one of the joys of using and collecting fountain pens. There are hundreds of different fountain pen shades available. So, when you use a fountain pen, you can write with a completely unique and original color.

If you’ve been using fountain pens for awhile you might have noticed that in the fountain pen world there’s not a blue or a black ink. There are dozens or even hundreds of shades on each color. That brings unlimited choices and challenges to express your own uniqueness.

With this in mind, we created original fountain pen ink samples. Each person has his own preferences and needs. With that in mind, we decided to offer the flexibility you need to test or collect fountain pen ink.

Should You Buy Fountain Pen Ink Samples?

Some people prefer to collect full-sized fountain pen ink bottles. Others, prefer to buy ink samples to test an ink before they spend more money in a full bottle. Still others, prefer to collect fountain pen ink samples.

A full bottle will always be cheaper per ml. An ink sample will always be cheaper than a full-sized bottle. The problem with full-sized ink bottles is that they can get expensive, and they do take a lot of space. Ink samples allow you to test and collect hundreds of different fountain pen ink samples.

To allow you to choose exactly the amount of ink you need, we created fountain pen ink samples in 3 different sizes.

One Ink, Many Fountain Pen Ink Samples Options

We’re the only website offering ink samples in 3 different sizes. This gives you unparalleled flexibility to test and collect fountain pen ink.

#1: 2ml Ink Sample

Fountain-Pen-Ink-Samples

Perfect for those who want to test a new ink before they commit to a full bottle or a larger ink sample. 2ml is enough to fill a small standard international fountain pen cartridge 4 times. These are the most affordable way to test new fountain pen ink.

#2: 3ml Ink Sample

Fountain-Pen-Ink-Samples-3ml

3ml offers a pretty good balance between testing and collecting. 3ml is usually enough for most people to deeply test an ink and is also attractable to ink collectors.

For some people, 3ml of ink lasts a long time. If you don’t use much ink and collect dozens or even hundreds of ink samples, a 3ml fountain pen ink sample can last you for years.

#3: 5ml Ink Sample

Fountain-Pen-Ink-Samples-5ml

The 5ml fountain pen ink sample is for fountain pen ink collectors and those that need larger quantities of ink.

A 5ml ink sample offers a perfect opportunity to collect large ml of ink for a fraction of a full ink bottle price.

Test And Collect Fountain Pen Ink

With our fountain pen ink samples, you now have the perfect opportunity to test or collect new ink. You can check here the latest fountain pen ink samples and add new colors to your collection.

How To Use An Ink Sample

You can fill a fountain pen converter out of any of the ink vials. It’s as simple as removing the converter from the pen, insert it into the vial, and twist the converter to get the ink in it. Then place the converter back into the pen, and release a little bit of ink into the nib.

Another way to fill a converter or a cartridge is by using a syringe. Fill your syringe, and then refill your empty cartridges or ink converters.

If you’re using an eyedropper pen, you can still fill it with a syringe, or you might use a transfer pipette. The process is simple and clean.

If you prefer to keep your converter on the pen, or if you use a piston fill fountain pen, you can use a 5ml empty vial as an inkwell.

In that case, fill your empty vial with ink, and use it as an inkwell to refill your pen.

What’s the best method? The best method is e one you prefer or feel more comfortable with.

Looking To Grow Your Ink Collection?

Now Available: Green Hero 366 Limited Edition

Green-Hero-366-Limited-Edition

Introducing the Green Hero 366 Limited Edition. If you love classical fountain pens, you need to check out the hero 366. Clearly inspired by the vintage Parker 51, the Hero 366 has a lot of things going for it.

Hero-366-Fountain-Pen-Green

This limited version of the pen comes with a fude nib. Fude nibs like this one offer great line variation, so they’re a perfect choice for calligraphy and drawing.

Fude-Nib-Writing-Sample

Hero 366 Specs

This is a light pen. While the full weight with the cap is near 19 grams, uncapped, the pen weights next no nothing.

This is a major advantage or disadvantage depending on your preferences. I personally prefer heavy and large pens, but I still find this hero 366 fun.

The cap is a simple pull-type cap and you can write with the pen capped at the bottom. It’s actually the best way to use it in my opinion since the pen length is just 120mm.

This pen comes with a pen sac, so no need to use converters or cartridges. You simply insert the nib into the ink bottle, give a couple of squeezes on the pen sac, and you fill it.

Again, it all depends on your preferences. It’s not the best filing system in the world for me, but it adds some personality and charisma to the pen. As a fountain pen user, I tend to stick to converters most of the time, but I find this filling system interesting for a change.

This is a plastic pen and might be the lightest pen I’ve used so far. That might give you the impression the pen is not durable or reliable enough, but the truth is I’ve been using some of these pens for years and never had a single reliability problem with them.

While some premium plastic or acrylic fountain pens get some cracks over the years, my heroes 366 remain as new. So, while the pen won’t give you a premium feel, it is reliable and practically indestructible.

Hero 366 Limited Edition Specs

On the limited edition we replaced the nib with a good calligraphy nib. This is a fude nib that will give you an extra character to your handwriting and that offers a generous line variation.

The feed and the sac filing mechanism had to be adjusted and tuned in some of these models, but when you get it you know it’s working perfectly well.

This pen comes with 2 3ml ink bottles and a 5ml fountain pen cleaning solution.

If you’re looking for a reliable and classical fountain pen, this Hero 366 can be a terrific choice. Some pens promise a lot and deliver just a little. This Hero is on the opposite side of that spectrum. It looks good if you like a classical design, but won’t feel like a premium pen.

But then, it keeps writing and performing for a long time. It’s not a sexy pen, it’s a workhorse. And we all need a couple of these on our collections.

The goal with the limited edition was exactly to bring some more fun and uniqueness to the equation, with the much superior nib. But at the same time, we wanted to make sure we wouldn’t affect the pen qualities.

All in all, the Green Hero 366 Limited Edition is a pretty neat fountain pen. If you want to read more about it simply click the links and if you love what we’ve done with it, get your own Hero 366 today.

Introducing Plastic Vials

2ml-Plastic-Ink-Vials

When you are looking for a way to store your fountain pen ink or to carry it with you wherever you go, Plastic Vials can become your best friend.

Plastic vials are not glamorous, amazingly attractive or something to write home about. Yet, they’re useful, and that’s why so many fountain pen lovers use them.

Colored-1-5ml-Plastic-Ink-Vials

InexPens Plastic Ink Vials

Above all, our ink vials are practical and solid. These vials are meant to be used to store your ink for years, so it’s crucial that they seal well.

1 – 1ml Plastic Vials

These vials are listed as 1ml, but in reality, they have a maximum capacity of 2ml. They’re supposed to be used to store 1 to 1.5ml of ink, and there’s a small mark on the thread pointing to those levels.

These are solid little vials. While looks are relative, I honestly see these little vials as one of the most attractive plastic vials on the market.

2- 2ml Snap Cap Vials

These vials won’t get any design award, that’s for sure. Again, design and looks are relative, but we’re selling these vials based on their practicability, not their looks.
The snap cap design allows you to use these vials single-handed. That’s useful when you’re filling a syringe or an eyedropper pen.

The unusual look on the vials let you store them upside down, but since the cap seals well, there’s no problem with it.

3 – 2ml Screw Cap Vials

These are really useful vials. They provide a solid screw cap, and some useful marks so that you know exactly how much ink you have left. The plastic used on these vials is pretty good, but not as solid as the one you find on the 1ml vials.

4 – 5ml Plastic Vials

These are some amazing vials. They’re the only one on this list where you can directly refill your fountain pen without using a syringe. Simply insert your nib on the vial, and refill your pen.

They’re marked up to the 5ml mark, but you can store up to 7ml of ink in them.

They’re a great solution to store unused nibs too.

Check all of these plastic vials and find the right solution for your needs.

5 – Magnifying Glass

1 – 6 Pens Black Pen Holder

Acrylic-Black-Pen-Holders-6-Pens

A perfect choice for classical desks. The black pen holder looks good on dark brown desks, and you can use it to display up to 6 of your favorite pens.

2 – 6 Pens Acrylic Pen Holder

6-Pens-Pen-Holder-Acrylic

If you’re using a white desk or you plan to display your pens in a modern office, this might be the right choice. This beautiful pen desk is simple to mount and allows you to store 6 pens. You can even use it with dip pens or ballpoint pens.

3 – Acrylic 1 Pen Holder

Brown-Acrylic-Pen-Holder-For-1-Pen

The most minimalist solution we currently offer is a simple but beautiful pen holder. It only allows you to display a single pen, but it’s a solid holder.

It looks as good in a classical or a modern desk.

Some collectors use pen boxes or pen sleeves to organize their pens. Those are good options to store pens. If you like to keep a couple of pens inked at the same time, these holders can give you the flexibility you need.

A pen holder is handy to keep your inked pens or to keep your favorite pens on display. I personally use a 6 pens holder on my desk all the time where I keep my inked pens. When I’m using a dip pen, I grab a 1 pen holder to keep my pen there without messing my desk.

We’re looking to add more pen holders in the near future, so keep an eye on our pen holders page.

Introducing The InexPens Silicone Grease

Inexpens-Waterproof-Silicone-Grease

InexPens Silicone Grease is used to seal the threads of your fountain pen when you perform an eyedropper conversion.

Another popular use for waterproof silicone grease is to lubricate piston-filled fountain pens and ink converters to keep them working smoothly.

If you’re looking to grease your piston seal pens or the threads on an eyedropper conversions, check our InexPens Silicone Grease.

InexPens-Silicone-Grease-for-Fountain-Pens

Why use an eyedropper pen?

Eyedropper conversions are amazing fountain pens. They allow you to carry up to 3 or 4ml of ink, which is much more ink than any converter or cartridge allows you to.

When you convert a fountain pen into an eyedropper, you use the entire barrel as an ink reservoir, so there’s not any other solution that allows you to carry this much ink in your pen.

Piston and converters lubrication

If your piston filled fountain pen or your ink converters require too much effort to fill, it might be time to lubricate them with waterproof silicone grease. Just by using a little quantity of silicone grease, they work as new once again.

How to use silicone grease

It couldn’t be easier. You simply use a small stick to get the silicone grease in the threads. You can use your fingers, but I usually prefer to use a stick, and then use a finger to spread the silicone grease.

Do you need an O Ring for eyedropper conversions?

That depends on the pen you’re converting. Some pens require an o ring, others won’t. Some people advocate that you always use an o-ring in any eyedropper conversion. I’ve been using simply silicone grease on dozens of pens without any problem or leaking. If the pen design won’t seal correctly, you might need an o-ring. I confess I never had that problem, so I stick to this silicone grease.

If you’re using a less dense silicone grease, maybe you need the ring. I can only comment on our silicone grease, and I never had the need for the o-ring yet.

InexPens Silicone Grease is waterproof and one single unit lasts for years. Even if you convert plenty of fountain pens to eyedroppers, each time you seal a thread you only need to use a drop of silicone grease. So, a small jar like this one should last you for years.

The InexPens Silicone Grease has approximately 3cm x 1.5cm (1.18” x 0.59’’).

Discover more about InexPens Silicone Grease.
